After playing small stakes poker online for the past couple of years I recently decided to try a little something new and give online backgammon a chance. I’m really glad I decided to give backgammon a try because I love it! It’s one of the most exciting games I’ve ever played.
The only thing is, backgammon is far more sophisticated than poker and I know nothing about strategies or how to play to win.
I wondered if anyone on here could give me some pointers or send up the links for some web resources that could help me learn the game a bit better. I have found a few sites, but it’s hard for me to tell what is good advice and what isn’t, considering I’m pretty much starting from square one.
Thanks in advance! |

This is a good site for backgammon beginners:
http://www.bkgm.com/articles.html
It has everything you need to know about backgammon, from the history, different variations, rules for beginners, strategy, technical information and even some stuff about computer dice and programming. |

There are tons of websites that will give you tips for general strategy in backgammon, such as creating blockades and anchors, when and when not to hit… general stuff like that. However, I am of the opinion that the best way to improve your game is practice, practice, practice! You can really find basic strategies and techniques anywhere on the web and then apply them to the game and see what works for you.
Good luck, and maybe someday soon I’ll see you on the opposite side of a backgammon board! |
