If you are new to the game of backgammon, you probably lack some of the strategy and insight of more advanced players. Some of the most important advanced backgammon tips concern strategies that you can use when you find that you are behind.
The first of these advanced backgammon tips is to strengthen your backgame. Your backgame is what is going on in your opponent's side of the board. Creating anchors in your opponent’s home board is a great strategy. If you put two or more checkers on a point it becomes useless to your opponent. The more of these points that you make, the harder it will be for him to enter all of his checkers and start to bear off. It also puts you in a great position to hit, giving you time to make it to your own home board. If you are so far behind that the game seems hopeless, it can be a good idea to set yourself up to be hit intentionally in order to strengthen your backgame.
If, on the other hand, you are already in the straight race and see you have no chance of winning, there are advanced backgammon tips that cover this situation as well. At this point in the game concentrate on moving your checkers to the home board as quickly as possible so your opponent will win only one point, instead of a two point gammon.
Following these advanced backgammon tips could save you the game, or at least a couple of points. |
