What happens if you are playing a Crawford game and you accidentally double and your opponent accepts and neither of you realize your mistake until after the cube has been taken and the other player is rolling for his turn? You are leading 4-0 in a five-point match. I know that the Crawford rule states that no doubling may occur in the first game that one player is one point away from winning the match, however I have also heard that illegal moves may pass if the dice are rolled and a player begins his turn without saying anything.

I am pretty certain that if you were ahead 4-0 in a 5-point game then your opponent would remember that it was the Crawford game if you tried to double and remind you that you aren’t allowed to double instead of accepting. A situation like this is probably more likely if the losing player doubles. If this rare case does occur then I believe it is like a case of an illegal move and the other player may inform them that a double would be illegal or the player may accept the double, along with the mistake. However, as I said, this would be a very rare occurrence.

I believe that the cube is entirely dead during the Crawford match so whether or not a player tries to double it won’t count. Regardless of what number the cube reads at the end of the game, the Crawford game is worth 1 point.
