This book is awesome! It covers every single aspect of what you need to know about poker. This includes playing in a casino, which table and seat section you should choose, what kind of betting theory you should use. It also helps you with stuff like table image and even cheating.
If you don’t even know how to play the game the book is not for you. There are no basic rules included which I think is great because it’s more focused like that and not geared towards total beginners. It’s for people who want to learn a bit more about poker. Strategy tips and how to adjust game conditions are the most meaningful pieces of knowledge you will take from this. The book is sort of focused on Limit Hold’em poker. This is what most of the examples in the book are about. If you are into no limit poker this isn’t the book for you.
When discussing strategy Gary Carson likes to point out the pot and betting odds most of the time. He also talks a lot about which tables to play on etc. He is constantly stressing the selection of games and tables as the most important aspect of the game. I think this is really right on. If you want some good sound advice fro a guy that really knows the game inside and out, I’d read this book. It’s amazing. |
