Online backgammon rules are as follows: Starting: Each backgammon player rolls one dice, to determine who's first. The highest roll wins. Moving backgammon pieces: Pieces move counterclockwise, starting in the upper right-hand quadrant, and ending in the lower right-hand quadrant, or the home board. The first backgammon player rolls both dice, and moves his pieces that amount of spaces.
Online backgammon rules dictate that you can either move two pieces (one per dice), or one piece the total number rolled. If you roll doubles, you can move twice the amount of spaces you rolled. You can only land on open points, points occupied by your pieces, or occupied by only one of your opponent's pieces. The aim of online backgammon is to get all your pieces into your home board, and then bear them off, while avoiding being bumped off the backgammon board by your opponent.
Bumping: If you land on a point occupied by only one of your opponent's pieces, you can bump it off the board. That piece is placed on the bar, and can only get back in by your opponent rolling the number of a point in your home board in which he can land legally.
Winning: According to online backgammon rules, once all your pieces are in your home board, you may begin bearing off by removing pieces from points less than or equal to the number you rolled. The game ends when one player has removed all his pieces.
